Gammangwato Marathon Launched Ahead of Sir Seretse Khama Day Celebrations

As part of the upcoming Sir Seretse Khama Day celebrations on July 1st, the Gammangwato region will host a historic marathon that begins in Palapye and ends in Serowe. The marathon was officially launched on Friday, 16th May 2025, at Makaleng (Main Kgotla) in Serowe.

The event will feature three competitive categories:

• 42 km – Grand prize of P40,000

• 21 km – Prize of P30,000

• 5 km – Prize of P5,000

Organizers have opened registration, and more details regarding sponsorships and registration points will be announced on official platforms.

This event is not only a sporting milestone but also a unifying moment for the region, encouraging health, youth participation, and community pride as the nation prepares to honour the legacy of Sir Seretse Khama.
