Traditional Song & Dance
An annual cultural showcase celebrating the rich traditions of our communities through music, rhythm, and dance.
Traditional Song and Dance Project
The Traditional Song and Dance Project is one of the flagship cultural initiatives of the Gammangwato Development Committees, proudly coordinated by the Culture and Heritage Committee. The project was established to preserve, promote, and celebrate the diverse traditional music and dance forms that define our identity and heritage.
Originally held once a year, the event’s growing popularity has led to it now being hosted three times annually, providing more opportunities for local cultural groups to perform, compete, and share their artistry.
Each edition of the project brings together performers from across the region to showcase traditional songs, dances, and storytelling styles that have been passed down through generations. It is not just a competition it’s a celebration of unity, pride, and cultural continuity.
Prizes are awarded to the top three performing groups:
1st Prize: P30,000
2nd Prize: P20,000
3rd Prize: P10,000
Beyond recognition and rewards, the project inspires youth involvement in cultural preservation and supports the intergenerational transfer of traditional knowledge.
